Tuesdays w/ Morrie - Mitch Albom

Mitch Albom comes out as a student of Morrie. The character who represents the people in nowadays. Who forgot and lost their value and memories, other things that they valued when their hearts were warm and heads were cold. Thesedays, people have cold hearts and smart brains. That's the problem. They look for theirown benefits and chase after them while they forget promises between them and their children, friends, parents, or teachers. The people who gave things that they cannot earn by themselves are forgotten by busy lives and sights.
For these days people, they are rushing to get more and more of benefits and advantages so that they could have better life later on. But how can they say 'later on' in front of the child telling hise/her parents to go to picnic just once or go to baseball game that the child would play. I think they would not go there but work more and think more to get more something that ensure them that they would have stable lives later on and second chance to make up one mistake that they already made for their children. It can be to parents, friends, lover, other people. But i guess if they miss the first one but look for raincheck, they won't get any but lose things more and more that they cannot buy with reputation, cash, honor, authority.
They should realize which one is more important.

Tuesdays w/ MORRIe - Morrie

I have read this for five times. And today was my fifth time of reading this.
This book has really touching story. The teacher, Morrie makes every scene in the book impressive. His attitude towards on death is too brave and bright. He seemed like he is just moving on to another journey. He was looking beyond the Death that everyone fears. His humors was impressive and funny, but somewhat sad. Because most of them are about his death or disables. Even there was dirty thing happened in the story due to Morrie's disease, the character, Morrie's existence and his characteristics covered those all.
While reading this book, i had a thought. It might be closer to a wish. The wish of having a teacher like Morrie. Then my life will be much more beautiful and worthier then now or in future. I think, Morrie is an ideal model of true teacher. The teacher who teaches his/her students love and forgiveness, and make them to open their eyes on a lot of part in the world that they have forgotten and missed for a long long time. In my opinion, this book might make a great impact on the people who lived their lives too busily or emotionlessly. Not only this book, but other books that talk about life, love, things we just have passed by.

Hamlet

During the Chuseok vacation, I went to the Sookmyung Women's College to watch world musical, "Hamlet" with my cousins. Gunhyung Park, who is the famous actor in Korea, was the main acter on that day. It was so happy to be outside that day because usually on Chuseok or Lunar break, no body moves but stay inside the house and waste time. But this time was different. I think it was because of me and my sister, moving to New York. Anyway, when the stage's ligths were on, every one became quiet. And people came out on the stage, lined up and singing. And the story had begun.
The end of the musical, "Hamlet", it was so impressive to me and it became the motivation for choosing this book, "Hamlet"

When I picked the book up, I reallized that its cover page was the same as the "Romeo and Juliet" that I read last semester. Nothing to say but I wanted to read it in English. I came back to home that day after cross country, almost twenty pages were introduction and about Shakespear. So I looked for the begining of the story and I found it. Begins from the scene, Denmark palace's guards chatting about King's ghost that always appears every night.

The new school I will attend is...

Anyway, I heard that it is pretty nice school.

Mythology Mini Project

Entry#1: Greek god or goddess



-The Greek god that I found is Hades. Who shows up very wicked person in the Hercules' movie. His Roman name is Ploto. Hades is the lord of the dead and ruler of the nether world, which is referred to as the domain of Hades of by transference as Hades alone. He is the son of the Cronus and has brothers, Zeus and Poseidon. He has a wife, Persephone., who is the daughter of the goddess, Demeter. Persephone was kidnapped by Hades.

Hades has things that represent himself. His throne is made of ebony, and he carries a scepter. He has a helmet that given to him by the Cyclopes, which can make him invisible.

There are some helpers to help Hades to rule the dead. Such as Thanatos(death), hypnos(god of sleep), the ferryman Charon, and the gaurd of his underworld's entrance, Cerberus.

He has a strange personalities. By Micha F. Lindmans, Hades has an aversion of himself. According to Sophocles, 'the gloomy Hades enriches himself with our sighs and ourr tears' He didn't allowed other humans to leave his world after entered to his world. According to Greek Mythology.com, he is a greedy god who is greatly concerned with increasing his subjects. He is also the god of wealth, due to the precious metals mined from the earth.

Compared Hades to Hercules, Hades personalities are not quite kind. He has a character like an outsider. Although, Hades' character is similar to the stories, Hades is not ambitious person. In the movie, Hades appears like the person who has a amition to rule all the world and betray his family and upset the brother Zeus.



Entry#2: Greek Monsters
-I choose Hades' dog, Cerberus. According to Wikipedia, Cerberus(or Kerberos) is monstrous hound, three headed dog with a snake for a tail. This Hades' doggie guarded the gate to Hades and ensured that spirits of the dead could enter, but none could exit(additionally, no living person was to come into Hades). Among his siblings are Chimera and Hydra. These fellows are kids of Echidna and Typhon. Cerberos was used by Hercules' final labour. How sad monster he or she is. He or she lost his or her siblings by Hercules and him/herself was used to Hercules' final labour.


Entry#3: What qualities would you like to have as a Greek god ro goddess?
-I don't want any physical appearences. But, I want the qualities from Athena. The knowledges. That is all I want right now in this school. Don't need appearence like an handsome Apolo, don't need powerful force like an Zeus and neither needs the Helmet of Hades to do everything freely. I just need scholastic ability and strong patient to stick on my studies. These are all I want.

ㅠㅠThis makes me really tired.

I have written these entries like three weeks. And saved it in one post.
And in this morning, in library, I just press Shift and Page Up to change the font of all contents.
And then.
